About Stepping Stones
Stepping Stones is a non-profit (501c3) organization that provides
horseback riding and related activities to challenged riders of all ages
in Monroe County and the Downriver area.
Stepping Stones involves many
people working to help riders with physical, mental or emotional
handicaps to develop their abilities. Each program is designed to teach
horsemanship as well as riding skills and is adapted to fit the
individual needs of each rider.
The success of the Stepping
Stones Program is measured in many different ways.
-
In the
broad smile of each rider as friendships develop and riding skills
improve.
- In the
demonstrated therapeutic benefits of the movement, improved balance,
coordination and muscle tone that riding provides.
- In the
positive feelings that volunteers experience when they assist the riders
and their families.
- In the
satisfaction that members of the community feel after they have donated
funds to support the day-to-day operations of the program.
